General lighting in Garment Manufacturing Unit… A Boon or a Bane

Lighting is a very important component of everyone’s life. Without light, colors don’t have any importance as without light everything turns out to be Black. Light enables all of us to perform our daily tasks and when it comes to doing a critical job then light plays the most important role.

So take the case of lighting conditions in the garment industry. There is general lighting all over the factory floor. But, the practice isn’t right. Like many other industries, garment industry should focus on task-oriented lighting. Many other industries like automobile and F&B Industries have special lights for a particular work. For example, for critical tasks, they have high wattage lights so that the work they are doing is defect free. Also, they have different lights having different temperatures for different kinds of workplaces, so that the worker feels comfortable while working.

Most of the times it happens that a garment which is inspected gets rejected because the light intensity in the audit room is different from the checking area on the floor. So, the garment industry also should emphasis on using task lighting instead of general lighting so that the defect percentage in the factory goes down.

Nowadays, many LED manufacturers are providing various options in terms of Light intensity, the color of light, light temperature from which garment manufacturers can choose the light depending upon the workstation or work type. Also, LED option provides you cost saving on electricity bills as it consumes less energy and gives more Lumen per watt as compared to Fluorescent tube lights that are being used currently in most of the industries.

These are important clothing business updates which not only saves on electricity cost but also improves defects on the stitching floor. You can make your apparel system like good manufacturing cost saving system with such useful points.
